STRATEGY GUIDES HEAD TO DVD
November 24, 2003
GameTime Entertainment first off the block…

Strategy guides on DVD could soon be the norm if the UK follows the emerging trend in the States, with GameTime Entertainment already translating its guides onto the DVD format, according to a Video Business Online report.

GameTime is producing the strategy guides (dubbed dvG) via a licensing agreement with strategy guide publisher Prima Games. American retailers such as Best Buy, Blockbuster, GameStop and Hollywood Video are all carrying GameTime’s Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six 3 dvG.

Retailing at $14.99 (approx £8.99) the disc offers four to five minute walkthroughs for each of the 14 levels, featuring narration over video of an experienced gamer playing the title. The guide points out enemies and obstacles and how to beat them.

GameTime plans to introduce multiplayer strategies, hints and developer interviews on future discs.
